how to spin social media into your content spiderweb

Regardless of its substance, I’m unwilling to commit to a podcast or audiobook unless the host’s voice is completely captivating. You gonfiabili per bambini know, a voice that makes you want to stop multitasking and just listen. Some voice boxes that rock:

*Note to self: Investigate more podcasters named Sarah/ name future child Sarah to set her up for audible greatness.

Inbound Marketing and Inbound Sales: the new peanut butter ‘n’ jelly

October 16, 2015

If you read our blog regularly or follow Rep Ink on social media, you know that our entire team went to HubSpot’s annual INBOUND conference in Boston last month. The conference is the largest event dedicated to the art of inbound marketing (often also called content marketing, although that’s subject to lots of debate). Whatever term you prefer, this is the practice of creating quality content that attracts people to your company rather than the old outbound “interruption” method of cold calling, advertising, buying email lists and praying for leads and sales.

So, why, over and over again, did I keep hearing about sales?

Want better content? Grow a pair and get vulnerable

better content: get vulnerable

Great speakers make you feel like their message is pointed directly at you. Having had the pleasure to listen to Dr. Brené Brown’s keynote at HubSpot’s INBOUND15 conference this year had that effect on me. If you don’t know who she is (how did I miss this genius with three New York Times best sellers right now?!?), she gave one of the most viewed TED Talks, changed lives, and is well on her way to changing

mine.

Are you helping or hurting your marketing content?

August 19, 2015

summer jam series (1)
Effective writing is an integral part of marketing success and excellent writers are necessary in producing valuable content. While sometimes you’re helping your marketing content, other times (without noticing) you could be hurting it. If you’re not writing with a purpose, you’ve chosen the latter. Since this is my first time working in a marketing firm, it was no surprise that I needed to sharpen my writing skills and fine-tune my technique. If you’re in need of some improvement (let’s be honest, everyone has room to improve), there are a number of resources available online to help hone your skills.

INBOUND 2015 hacks

Last year was the first time I attended HubSpot’s annual conference, INBOUND. It was so amazing and overwhelming, it’s a miracle my head didn’t explode daily. Christmas in July: Go time for corporate holiday card ideas

July 30, 2015

Christmas in July

Not to sound like Scrooge, but I really hate all of these Christmas and Black Friday in July promotions. Come on, you pay your ad agencies millions of dollars. I’m sure they have art directors, creative directors and copywriters with the skills and desire to come up with something more creative, too.

On the flip side, I very much enjoyed the cookie I ate at our Christmas in July happy hour last week.

July 28, 2015

Lessons from BuzzFeed and NewsCred’s webinar, “Creating Content for Millennials: Why It Matters + Strategies for Success”

HOW Buzzfeed became the (1)

Beyoncé wasn’t built in a day—neither was BuzzFeed. And both began their ascents around the same time.

It was 2005 when Bey realized there was only one, true Destiny’s Child. And it was 2006 when Huffington Post co-founder Jonah Peretti launched BuzzFeed as “an experimental lab that focused on tracking viral content and making things people wanted to share.” Score.

Content curation: How to collect and share what readers want

June 19, 2015

Content curation
A recent study by Ascend2 revealed that 53 percent of marketers feel a lack of internal content creation resources is their biggest content marketing challenge. If content marketing is part of your job description, you may feel 53 percent is a little low, given all the researching, writing, editing and image searching that goes into creating a single blog post. Luckily, your audience can appreciate content you share that isn’t necessarily penned by you. Sharing content with your prospects and customers that you didn’t create to build trust and credibility is called “content curation,” and it’s an important tool in the content marketer’s toolbox.
